"ΑΝΘΡΩΠΟΚΟΙΝΩΝΙΚΑ" (HumanSocial) is the subject gateway of Panteion University.

The objective of this subject gateway is to locate internet informative sources that cover the sciences addressed by the Panteion University (political sciences, economics, sociology, law, history, psychology, philosophy, communication sciences etc), roughly the total of the contemporary social and humanitarian sciences. Moreover, the objective of the subject gateway is to organize the given information by subject and type and to store it for future access. The ultimate goal of the Gate is to become an important tool for the inquiring and educational needs of the members of the University (professors, researchers, students, postgraduate students, administrative personnel).

Information sources
"HumanSocial" provides access to information that can be found on the internet. Here are the sources of information as follows: titles of electronic magazines (with subscription or free access), databases, important events (congresses, meetings), digital books, organizational web pages etc. The offered sources have been selected, organized and catalogued by the Library Personnel. At the same time, however, users are given the option of recommending/proposing web pages and useful links that could be included/added in the database of the subject gateway.

Subject Index
The subject index is a taxonomy of social and humanitarian sciences that were selected and developed based on the extensiveness of the catalogued sources. They are based on the main categories of the classification system that is used by the Library (Dewey Decimal Classification System).

Search
Search (searching) retrieves resources, either by using the title of the catalogued resources or by selecting a specific category (magazines, databases, events).

You can enter part of the word/phrase you want to search for in the appropriate text box or you can select a letter of the alphabetical list displayed under the text box. The search is case insensitive and you can select one out of three pattern matching options:
  1. anywhere: performs a search for the query given across the title/description of the resources
  2. free: performs a loose search across the title/description fields.
  3. phrase: performs a phrase matching in the title/description of the resources

RSS feeds
The RSS service can provide you with the latest resources added in the portal without having to constantly visit the portal through your web browser. RSS feed technology will automatically give you an update of the latest electronic journals, books, Internet URLs and events that are inserted in the portal. You can also suggest your own resource and make it available to the whole community of users that are subscribed to the RSS feed service.
